Officer of the Year

Nomination for "Fire & Life Safety Educator" of the Year Award

The Piedmont North Carolina Firefighters Association invites department members to honor their best fire & life safety advocate with a nomination for “Fire Safety Educator of the Year”. The nomination is for an individual who promotes fire and life safety in their community.


Eligible nominations must demonstrate innovative ways of presenting fire and life safety education programs to their community. This information should be included in the narrative section of this application form: Demonstrate innovative ways of presenting fire prevention and life safety education to the public. Describe fire & life safety issues addressed by the nominee and provide details of the outstanding efforts made to impact the problem. List challenges, barriers or obstacles and how the nominee overcame them. Please include supporting documentation, i.e., newspaper articles, pictures, letters of support from local community advocates, administrators or officials with the application.

All nominations will remain confidential and will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Leadership Demonstrated

  • Unique Delivery Approach

  • Effectiveness of Program/Outreach

  • Impact on their Community

  • Utilization of Resources

  • Participation within Local Community
